Party games

A game for two, about everyone else.

With two players, Paranoia becomes Inner Circle. Every secret question turns towards the people you both know — friends, family, colleagues — and the reveal decides whether your partner ever finds out why you said that name.

How Inner Circle works

  1. The app picks the reader. Pass them the phone.
  2. Only they see the question. Their partner just has to sit there and wonder.
  3. They say a name out loud. Not their partner’s — the name of someone you both know who is not in the room. Then they lock it in.
  4. The reveal decides. Green keeps the question secret for good. Red shows it, and the reader has some explaining to do.

Then the other person reads, and the questions keep coming.

Why it works for two

Two-player games usually mean taking turns being honest about each other. Inner Circle is sneakier. You are not answering about the person in front of you; you are answering about your best friend, your boss, your sister, the couple you always go on holiday with. Your partner hears the name and has to live with not knowing what the question was.

It works for couples on a night in, best friends, flatmates and siblings — anyone who shares a circle of people worth gossiping about.

Tips for game night

  • Agree the ground rules. Decide together who is fair game before you start. Exes, family, the group chat: your call.
  • Pick a level together. Start on Nice or Mild and go Spicy when you are both ready. Insane needs Pro, and you both have to agree.
  • Long distance? Host a private room in OWN PHONES for two and play from your own phones. In OWN PHONES, the reader writes the name down before locking it in.
  • Read the debrief. When you stop, it shows who from outside the room came up most, which questions stayed unexplained, and which of you got exposed more.

More for two

Want questions about each other instead? The Couples Therapy and Sexy Pack decks are built for couples and double dates — see our couples game night guide. When friends come over, the same app runs the full game for up to 20 players; here is how it plays with small groups.

Who would you name?

Questions people ask

Can two people play Paranoia?

Yes. With two players, Paranoia plays as Inner Circle: the reader names someone you both know outside the room instead of each other.

Who can you name in Inner Circle?

Anyone you both know who is not playing — friends, family, colleagues. Say the name out loud; the question stays with the reader unless the reveal shows it.

Can we play Inner Circle online?

Yes. Host a private room in OWN PHONES for two and each play on your own iPhone or iPad. In OWN PHONES, the reader writes the name down as their answer.

Is it a couples game?

It works brilliantly for couples, but also for best friends, flatmates and siblings. For questions about each other, try the Couples Therapy deck.
